Stefanie M. Donnelly, MA, LPCC

Hello! My name is Stefanie Donnelly and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Growing up with a sister with special needs, I experienced firsthand how therapy can improve our overall sense of wellbeing and can have a positive impact in a multitude of ways on how we interact and experience the world around us. I felt inspired and became dedicated at a young age on learning how to recreate that same level of change in the lives of others. I received my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Adler University in Chicago, Illinois in 2009 and I have been a licensed counselor since 2010. I strive to empower and help my clients develop a stronger sense of self. My approach to therapy is holistic, psychodynamic, humanistic and interpersonal. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral techniques. These techniques can easily be integrated into our daily lives and can provide immediate relief from symptoms of anxiety and depression. I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults. I have clinical experience working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma and low self-esteem. I have also worked with clients who have entered therapy with the goal of self-growth. Therapy is not just about working through difficult emotions and issues, but about recognizing and developing strengths. Often in our busy days it can be difficult to make time for this type of personal reflection but this exploration is so critical to our growth.

I work to create a trusting and safe space for clients. As a therapist, I believe it is my role to help the client gain a better understanding of the origin of certain forms of thought and behavior. Through our subjective experience, we develop and often hold on to certain ways of thinking and perceiving the world around us. Some of what we create makes sense and gives us strength. However, certain patterns of thinking are no longer useful over time, or are erroneous from the start. I assist clients in developing a new narrative and perspective. One that leads to a greater connection and appreciation of our unique intricate experience of our world both interpersonally and intrapersonal. I feel very privileged and honored to work in a profession that creates this type of change. I continue to feel inspired by the growth and positive change that my clients work so hard to achieve. I very much look forward to working with you!
